Connecticut police have arrested two men after a homeowner was threatened at gunpoint by one of them, who arrived on the doorstep dressed as a delivery man.

Xavier Otero, 37, was caught on a Ring camera attempting to rob a homeowner in East Haven on Friday morning.

Ortero is seen approaching the Maple Street house dressed in an orange safety vest, holding a package in one hand.

He knocks on the door, and when the homeowner opens Ortero pulls a gun out of his pocket.

The homeowner fights back, and Ortero quickly runs away and jumps into the passenger seat of a waiting silver and black Dodge Ram.

‘The incident was captured on the homeowners Ring camera system and images of the suspect and video of the incident were immediately disseminated through various media and social media outlets,’ said East Haven police.

‘Soon after, tips began coming in.’

Ortero was arrested at the house of a relative 45 miles away, in Hartford.

Officers then learnt of plans to stage a second robbery in Manchester, 10 miles east of Hartford.

They located the Dodge Ram and arrested the owner, Jean Carrasquillo-Torres, 26.

Inside his house they found zip ties ‘and weapons related items’.

They also found 1.1kg of fentanyl and equipment for manufacturing drugs.

Ortero was charged with home invasion, criminal possession of a firearm and attempt to commit unlawful restraint, among other charges.

Carrasquillo-Torres was charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion, plus drugs and weapons charges.

The pair were held at the East Haven Police Department on a $250,000.00 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on April 26.
