JPMorgan Chase Revamps 383 Madison Avenue to Complement New Headquarters

JPMorgan Chase is launching a major overhaul of its 383 Madison Avenue tower to bring it in line with the sleek, futuristic design of its new headquarters rising next door at 270 Park Avenue. The bank plans to strip the aging, granite-faced building of its dated exterior and replace it with a glassy, modern façade that allows more light and expansive views of the Manhattan skyline.

The renovation will go far beyond cosmetic updates. Inside, the company is introducing a completely reimagined workspace. Updated interiors will include open, collaborative offices equipped with cutting-edge technology, wellness-centered amenities, and a health-conscious food hall. A redesigned lobby and the removal of some ground-floor walls will create public pathways and a more welcoming street-level presence, making the building feel more connected to the surrounding neighborhood.

The project reflects JPMorgan’s broader commitment to transforming Midtown Manhattan into a more integrated and employee-friendly business hub. Once complete, 383 Madison Avenue will serve as a companion to the bank’s new headquarters—a towering, state-of-the-art structure featuring a massive public plaza, green space, and community-focused amenities.

The transformation is expected to take two years and will be executed by a team of prominent architectural firms. Once finished, the upgraded building will house a significant portion of the firm’s 16,000 Midtown-based employees, giving them access to a work environment that reflects the company’s long-term vision for innovation, sustainability, and employee well-being.
